The Aviair airport air-quality monitoring project has now completed.
Over the course of the project, Aviair deployed and operated a network of AirNodes to monitor air quality around airport environments. Those project-operated AirNodes have now been collected and are no longer in service.
Community AirNodes
Alongside the main Aviair deployment, a number of community-owned AirNodes were purchased and operated independently. Community AirNodes are not part of the original project closure. Owners may continue to leave their AirNodes in place if they wish to keep sampling local air quality.
Data from community AirNodes will continue to be uploaded to the community-run data platform for as long as that platform remains available.
Returning or Recycling an AirNode
If you own a community AirNode and no longer wish to operate it, you have two options:
- You can remove the unit and take it to a local recycling centre that accepts WEEE electrical waste.
- Alternatively, return the AirNode to the original return address supplied with the unit, and we will arrange for it to be disposed of responsibly.
Future of Aviair
There is a possibility that the Aviair project may restart in the future, but there are currently no active deployments planned.
